From Kazakhstan’s futuristic cities to Kyrgyzstan’s wild mountains and Uzbekistan’s ancient wonders, this journey through Central Asia was unforgettable. Eagle hunting, canyon trekking, and exploring Silk Road cities made a unique experience!
My adventure began with a flight from New York to Astana, Kazakhstan, where I checked into the luxurious Rixos President Astana Hotel. The next day, I embarked on a half-day city tour, exploring Nur-Sultan’s futuristic skyline and cultural landmarks. The following morning, I ventured into the countryside for an unforgettable experience with a Kazakh family of eagle hunters, witnessing their centuries-old tradition up close.
Kyrgyzstan: Mountains & Nomadic Traditions
After a brief stop in Almaty, I continued to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, where I exchanged currency and headed deep into the mountains to Supara Chunkurchak, a lodge nestled in a breathtaking gorge. Here, I spent a day horseback riding and practicing archery, embracing the nomadic spirit of the region.
Returning to Bishkek, I explored Ala Archa National Park, enjoyed fine dining, and set off on a two-day adventure through Kyrgyzstan’s dramatic canyons. Each landscape, from red rock formations to vast open plains, was a feast for the eyes.
Kazakhstan & Uzbekistan: History Comes Alive
From Bishkek, I traveled back to Kazakhstan, exploring Almaty’s stunning Kolsay and Kaiyndy Lakes, then crossed into Uzbekistan by train to discover Samarkand’s legendary architecture. The Registan Square, adorned with intricate mosaics and towering minarets, was a highlight of my time in Uzbekistan.
Bukhara was equally mesmerizing, with its ancient city walls, bustling bazaars, and traditional courtyards. After a short stay in Tashkent, I flew back home, reflecting on the diverse cultures, breathtaking landscapes, and incredible hospitality I had experienced across Central Asia.
This journey was a deep dive into history, tradition, and natural wonders—a true adventure through the heart of the Silk Road.
